| Development of an Autonomous Biomass-Solar Thermally Driven Distillation System | Summary: | ||
| BIOSOD aims at the development of an innovative, stand-alone low-pressure thermal-distillation demonstration system powered by renewable energy sources (solar collectors and biomass). The biomass unit will operate as an auxiliary thermal energy source. The combined application of a biomass-solar thermal unit can be effective and energy efficient, assuring an uninterruptible, 24 hours per day fresh water production. Since the system is modular, can be easily adjusted to the end users needs, taking into consideration the availability of the existing renewable sources. The development of a demonstration distillation plant powered by a combined power source (hybrid solar-biomass) will encourage the development of an innovative RES-technologies and will help European manufacturing organisations to maximise their business opportunities. |
